Jenny1079 Replies back

I tried to leave a comment on the blog, but my Mac is not a blogger fan and
wouldn't let me. Of course ;)

Thank you so much for rec'ing Dear Maggie today! I cannot tell you how appreciative I
am of it or how awesome the review was! I am actually finding it a little hard
to convey at the moment, and that is not something that usually happens to me
since I'm such a wordy h00r, lol.

Oh, and I love the idea of the blog. I hope it gives some of the newer
authors/fics the some more of the recognition they deserve.

xx

Dear Maggie by Jenny0719

Story: Dear Maggie
Author: Jenny0719

Description: A heart leads Bella back home to Forks... and to the brother of the woman who donated it. M for Lemons/OOC/Language

Read it Here!

The Reviews:

This little gem sucks you in from the get-go. Bella's world is turned upside from a lifelong heart complication simply put off as mere clumsiness by everyone until later in her life. Three years later, she drives herself, along with the trusty file on her donor to Forks, Washington to spend the summer with her father, before heading to the University of Washington.

Bella is so riddled with guilt, knowing that Maggie lead a better life than she. Maggie's life was filled with promise, as Bella is still confused on where she's going in life.

Journal entries are made to Maggie by Bella. Words filled with guilt, heartache, and a paper friendship that might have some readers questioning Bella's sanity.

Edward, the man so lost within himself, struggles with himself on what seems to be a daily basis. You learn a tiny bit of his past in the second chapter, and it's enough to suck you in and have your heart breaking for him.

Edward seems to feel unworthy of love, and like he would only taint anyone as innocent as Bella. He is rude, bitter, and a down right dick. But your heart is already in love with the heartless bastard before you know it, and you just can't seem to hate him for it.

This is going to be an epic story, so rush and read it from the beginning!

So, when I first heard the synopsis of this story, I was intrigued. I like reading about real life situations and how people deal with them. The I read the author, and I knew I was going to be hooked.

Jenny 0719 has a way of developing her characters with flaws but makes them so lovable you can’t resist them and Edward, in Dear Maggie doesn’t disappoint. He comes across with a chip on his shoulder and could be termed Assward in Chapter 1, but there is something off and a little lost about him, that we learn the first piece of the puzzle with a slip of paper from Charlie to Bella.

Jenny gives you just enough pieces that you can’t put anything together yet, but gives you a compulsion to know. I want another chapter NOW! Plus, one of my favorite things, she interweaves original phrases, scenes, thoughts from the books and the movies throughout the story. Add a feisty Bella and there you are in Dear Maggie.

Exert:
My brow quirked. "Are you calling me a dick?"

She smiled a slow, sexy smile that made my stomach do this unnecessary little flip.

"If the shoe fits…"

"I'm almost inclined to take that as a compliment," I retorted with a sneer. "Almost."

This made her grin even wider.

Emmett's mouth dropped open in disbelief. He stared at me long enough to make me uncomfortable, and that was a feeling I'd just about had enough of recently.

I am completely amazed by the story, Dear Maggie by Jenny0719. Her words and descriptions just suck you into this story about Bella, a recent heart transplant recipient and Edward, the donor's brother. We start off with Bella's point of view as she returns to Forks before she heads to University of Washington. She is living with Charlie before she heads off to college. We learn about how Bella needed the heart and how she was diagnosed with a heart condition late in life. To cope with receiving her new heart, she writes to the donor in a journal. Her entries are poignant and heartfelt. However, you can tell that Bella is riddled with guilt over having another person's heart beating in her chest.

After her initial doctor's appointment with Dr. Carlisle Cullen, Bella heads to Carlisle's son's garage to apply for a secretarial job. She is in desperate need for money before heading to school. She is greeted by a snarling man who lights up a smoke. His anger is evident. Bella returns home and fixes dinner for her and Charlie. As it turns out, the brother of Maggie lives in Forks. It is none other than Edward Cullen.

The snarling, smoking man from the garage.

His demons are deep rooted and we learn a bit about his story in the next chapter. The description of Edward is sad and gut-wrenching, but leaves us wanting more. We don't know much about him, but the tidbits we receive keep us salivating. Edward is the adoptive son of Carlisle and Esme. He's going to Seattle for medical school in the fall is working at Emmett's garage over the summer to help out. Edward is a proud man. A complicated man. A man who is undeniably attracted to Bella. His inner monologue about Bella's yoga pants is evident of that. When Bella is hired at the shop, Emmett unceremoniously thrusted Edward into the office. Bella and Edward have a strained conversation. Bella threatens to knee him in the balls and calls him a dick before he lights up another cigarette. However, Edward notices the scar along Bella's chest and leaves the office. He knows something is up.

But will he show it? Acknowledge it?

Only Jenny0719 knows. And so do I. Read it. Awesome story!

Guidelines and Rules

Some reviewers have stressed concern over remaining anonymous, so in their cases, they will be posted as such. Others have no concerns over whether people know it was them and their input on stories.

Now, when a review is posted. It will start with the story name and author, along with the link to said story. We will be basing these reviews on stories with under 300 reviews, or less than 10 chapters. Also, even the veteran writers could end up on our list of reviews, if they have posted a new story.  That seems fair, right?

Once a month, we'll be reviewing stories that fall out of the above criteria, so who knows, even your big ol' story might show up here. *smiles*

Last, but certainly not least, we will be awarding 1-5 cupcakes at the end of the review post. 1 being that we wouldn't recommend reading that certain fanfic, and 5 being you MUST read it, cause it's that fucking great. But I'm sure you get the picture, I reckon'..
